Crowns and Bridges
Restoring the appearance and strength of your teeth
Dental crowns and bridges are both effective restorative treatments used here at Honeysuckle Dental in Honeysuckle Drive, Newcastle. By custom making your bridge or crowns our dental professionals can ensure that you receive a restoration that can be matched to enhance or mimic your former smile.
Dental crowns, also known as dental caps, are one of the most versatile types of restorative treatments we provide. Not only do they allow us to rebuild and strengthen a compromised tooth, they can also be used to change a tooth’s overall appearance. Dental crowns encase the entire visible portion of a tooth effectively, becoming the new outer surface of your tooth.
Dental crowns can be used to restore teeth that are:
- Severely damaged
- Aged or worn
- Chipped or cracked
- Damaged by large or repeated fillings
- Effected by poor oral hygiene
Crowns can also be used to replace teeth that are missing via the support of a dental implant. As these restorations are permanently fixed to your teeth, they can be an effective long term solution to correct damaged or missing teeth.
A dental bridge may be recommended if you are missing one or more teeth. Leaving gaps created by missing teeth may cause your teeth to rotate or shift. Dental bridges span the space where there are missing teeth. The dental bridge will be matched to the colour of your natural teeth and will blend unnoticeably into your smile.
Receiving dental bridges
Once our dental professionals have identified that dental bridges are the most suitable option for you, we will take a mould of your teeth aim to ensure that your prosthetic restoration will fit correctly into your smile. The complexity of your treatment will depend on if you require a dental implant and a crown or if we are simply bridging two teeth together that are separated by a single missing tooth.
In your initial consultation our team will assess your particular dental condition and advise you if you require dental implants. While you will be required to have some teeth surrounding the gap or gaps for the bridging device to attach onto, our team can also place dental implants to anchor a crown or bridge.
Once your bridge has been created, the dental team at Honeysuckle Dental will ensure that you are comfortable and relaxed as we place your restoration. Once your restoration has been placed you should regain the function of your teeth as well as an aesthetically pleasing smile.
During your initial consultation our dental professionals will discuss with you if crowns or bridges would be better suited to your particular dental condition.
